Australians for Peace are a not for profit community organisation made up of individuals who are passionate about promoting peace locally and globally. We aspire to a world where all individuals can live with dignity and have the opportunity to thrive in a harmonious and prosperous society.
Our aim is to inspire and encourage individuals in Melbourne to work together towards developing a sustainable profile worldwide as “A City of Peace.” Not only in declaration, but in actions that can embrace a culture of peace.
We seek out the support of like-minded NGO’s, corporate partners and individuals who believe that a peaceful and harmonious society will be a prosperous one.
Commencing with a small project for the UN International Peace Day for 2014, we are engaging with the broader community and hope to progressively build on our activities each year. We are building relationships with individuals associated with art and cultural groups, ethnic support groups, educational partners, media groups, indigenous groups, as well as corporate partners and others interested in promoting and encouraging a peaceful, inclusive Melbourne community.
Our aims and purposes
- to support, promote and recognise activities and actions which work towards fostering and maintaining a culture of peace in the lives of individuals within our own communities
- to provide an ongoing environment to celebrate and recognise UN World Peace Day on September 21 and its principles
- to collaborate with local government, community groups, NGO’s and individuals to support a culture of engagement and involvement in peace celebrations each year
